Moonshiner Falls
April 30, 2003

It's a real blessing to have stumbled upon the remains of an old moonshine still hidden below a small waterfall in the Ozarks. Gazing on these artifacts, I tried to imagine what life was like for people who made a home in the same wilderness we use for recreation. I wonder if the still was placed here during Prohibition in the 1920s, or later on? Those that placed it here no doubt chose this spot for its water supply and its seclusion. And that seclusion is the reason there's anything left today.
