High Bank Twins
March 24, 2004

I've already lost count of how many times I've driven up to the Mulberry in hopes of finding the twin falls above High Bank running full tilt. I'd told myself two weeks ago I was finished with the place for this year, because once things green up the leaves will block the camera's view. But after it rained all day Wednesday there weren't any other waterfalls close enough to get to before sunset.
The rain did exactly like I wanted. I drove through rain all the way there, and had to put on a rain suit for the short walk to the falls. Luckily the rain stopped just as I got to the falls and I was able to get some pictures in the failing light.
I'd always wondered how much the flow of the water over the falls was affected directly by rain. While three tenths of an inch of rain didn't make the falls look like Niagara, it definitely made a big difference.
It was dark on the drive home, and I was dodging frogs in the road along the Mulberry constantly. Every once in a while I would see a frog moving forward using its front legs - a funny site. I hope these weren't injured ones.
