Kings Bluff
November 6, 2005

I forgot to mention that the fall colors were at their best, at least around the Haw Creek area. The skies were clear and blue, the temperatures mild.... it was just about perfect. We parked at the trailhead for Pedestal Rocks and Kings Bluff and fixed sandwiches before heading down the Kings Bluff trail. A couple hundred yards along, we passed under a towering Blackgum tree with brilliant backlit red leaves.
We decided that the boys needed to be kept apart, to safeguard against mishap around the numerous fatal drops along the bluff. At natural dropoffs, Moore boys are genetically predisposed to throw rocks, leaves, limbs, moss... anything we can get our hands on! So Cliff and Joey went a short distance ahead of Grant and me.
The loop trail took us back to the parking area, then we drove east to Falling Water Creek.
