Natural Dam
October 30, 2004

The Saturday before Halloween turned out to be a gorgeous afternoon with deep blue skies and feathery clouds. I’d planned on working all day but one look outside and suddenly Natural Dam was calling my name. The list I keep up in my head included trying to take waterfall pictures in the middle of a bright sunny day, which they say is hard to do.
There was no hiking involved in this adventure. This Crawford County landmark is right next to the road and the forest service has a parking lot there. I took off my tennis shoes, rolled up my sweat pants and waded out in my socks into the shallow pool right below the falls. I moved from spot to spot, taking pictures of every scene that I liked, and next thing I know an hour had passed.
