A Look Back at Summer
September 23, 2004

My journal wouldn’t be complete without these photos from this summer. The last half of the season was mostly all work and no play, but I managed to steal half an hour here or there to shoot sunset pictures with the train bridge at Van Buren's riverfront park.
I was even lucky enough to see the bridge in action. On my last outing, a train passed over the east sections on my side of the river, then paused while the middle section was lowered. I remember as a kid thinking the bridge must be broken, because I never ever saw the middle section except in the up position.

The boys made many trips to the cabin with Darrel and Wanda, and they came back with tales of big fish every time.  Stacey couldn’t stand to miss out on the fishing so she joined them on several trips.  The cabin is near Lake Eufaula in Northeast Oklahoma, in the Piney Creek community.
We all went there for the Labor Day weekend, including  James and Melinda’s crew. One evening I took the big picture below of the boys at sunset. The rest of the photos were taken by Darrel at different times during the summer.
